Hello News Team,
I am a huge fan and I appreciate all the wonderful news and updates that you provide to us as consumers.
I would like to share my story with you and hope that you will be bale to assist me and are able to alert others. I am a Time Warner Cable customer and in the month of April of this year I fell victim of a cable scheme and attempted robbery by a Time Warner Cable contract service representative. At the time when I signed up for services I was not aware that they contracted out for many jobs in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. A long story short we signed up for cable services and two men showed up in Time Warner trucks and clothing. They did the job so quick that my boyfriend was not able to even see what exactly they did and what services we were given. When they were finished and wrote the ticket for services at that time my boyfriend paid for the installation and they were on there way. The very next day I heard my kids calling me frantically as I was in the other room watching TV they were screaming that someone had jumped our fence and were trying to get into the house. It was at this time I called the police and the suspect was apprehended while he was coming out of my garage. He had gained access through an unlocked door. When questioned he can up with an elaborate story that he had left equipment inside our house and was coming back to get it. Needless to say he was arrested and charged with trespassing. To this day my kids are scared and watch for every movement and sound that is out the ordinary. Even though it has made us aware it has also taken my kids security inside our home. The police explained that this is the latest scheme that robbers have come up with and use to gain access into individuals home and scope out the place before they come back and burglarize you.
I wanted to bring the awareness to others so they are on alert and do not have to feel a loss of security such as we do. I do not have an answer on how to avoid such individuals but would love some tips on how to research better before allowing outsiders to do business in our home.
Lastly, we have been treated very unfair with Time Warner who in my opinion did little to nothing to make sure we were secure and this situation was met at our standards. Time Warner cable continues to call and state we owe for unpaid balances since unfortunately the contractor who took the money pocketed it and did not report were he was paid in full. I REFUSE to pay Time Warner Cable until they credit my account for already paid services and admit they were in fact for hiring this contract company to do business for them.
Please Fox 4 help me alert other and get to the bottom of this issue!!!
