Went shopping at the Salvation Army Thrift store in Saugus, MA today. Purchased a black "chanel" wallet. Saw it in the case up at the front of the store. The associate took it out for me to look at. It was marked $79.99. I do not know much about wallets but the manager on duty assured me it was "real" and that is why I assumed it was that much money. Backing up a bit here, when I walked in the store, right up in front of the service desk/checkout area there is a plackard/whiteboard where they advertise there "specials".
The board said, All merchandise is 25% off, excluding merchandise under $1.00. So, finally after hemming and hawing about spending that amount of money and having the manager ask me repeatedly if I was going to purchase the wallet as she "came in early to buy the wallet". I decided to purchase it. They would not give me the "advertised" 25% off on this item as it "just came in". Even though the signage said nothing about any items (other, than the forementioned $1.00 items) being held back.
Don't know if this was to try and get me to "not" buy it so that the manager could buy it or not. However, stupidly decided to purchase it anyways. Long story short, from what I can tell after researching at home is that it is most likely a well-done knock off. After calling the store back to see if there was any chance that I could return it for a refund I was told "sorry, but no refunds". Believe I was speaking to the manager I dealt with earlier this morning, Linda but can't be sure. Guess, it is my own stupidity but hopefully others will learn not to buy high priced merchandise in Saugus, Salvation Army.
