In October we were contacted by TWA Resales to sell our Westgate Timeshare in Gatlinburg, Tenn. For a small fee of $1,000.00. We said, "No." They called us continuous everyday, telling us they had buyers waiting. They kept coming down on their fee. Finally, they got down to $600.00; guaranteed us they would sell probably within 30 days and definitely within 90 days.
We sent them the money. The everyday calls stopped. We started calling them every week or so. We never did talk to the same person twice, but we were told they were negotiation with someone or they were going to have a "show" this weekend and it would surely sell.
Needless to say, we still have the timeshare, but not the $600.00. At first, we would get put on hold. Then, later, we left messages that were never answered. The next time we called, the phone rang, and rang and rang. Finally, we got a recording that they had gone
out of business.
These rip-off companies that take advantage of people, like us, who trust most everyone, should not only be forced to pay back all the fees, but should be prosecuted and put in jail, because they are no more than a common criminal.
I hope this report reaches everyone to BEWARE if you have a timeshare you want to sell. Never give anyone money upfront. We did and we paid for it.
