Today i recieved a phone call from the Landis Law Offices. When i answered the phone a woman says Hi, is this Nicole? I knew enough to say no. So she says well can i speak with Louis (which is my father-in-law) i said no he doesnt live here. She says well my name is Bella Stone (we all know they use fake names) and i was like yeah. She say do you see Louis? Of course i said yes i do i take care of him because he is ill. He's suffering from Alheimzers. She says well i'm call about a debt that has come into our law office for the amount of $1,035.27 from a creditcard. I said yeah what do you want me to do? I said i have to go through his records and bills because i am unaware of any debt owed. I told her that he's very ill and is going to be placed in a nursing home. She tells me to hold so she can speak to another lawyer i was like ok. Then this guy claiming to be a lawyer says his name was either Cobb or Cole. Couldnt quite understand him because he purposely did that so i would be distracted. He was like Are you power of attorney i said no his son is. Then he say well doesnt he have the fund to pay this i said no we have 3 small kids. Then he say well then this will be going through then. I said well i cant help you until i know whats going on with my father in law and i have to speak with my husband. So he hangs up on me. I then called my husband to tell him. He was like disregard it because we dont have any record of this bill. If they send one then well pay it. Now mind you this isnt even our debt and they told me all this with out any verification on who i was. So then i decide to call my mother to tell her what just had happened. She was like you need to call them back and ask them to send you a copy of the original contract and payment summarys. So i decided to call them back with my mother on the phone on 3 ways. So this Bella Stone Answers and i ask her if she could send me a copy of all this stuff for our records before we make good on payment. She starts tell me my father in laws credit card number, who its from, what year it was taken out and what month the account was closed. I was like i dont need to know that. I need proof of contract. She says please hold for a moment and at that moment that rude sob Cobb or Cole whatever his name was gets on the phone yelling at me tell me that im denying to pay. I was like i am not denying anything i want paper PROOF before i pay anything because i dont know if this is real and a scam. He then starts telling i better get a lawyer. I said i dont have to do anything and that i am only looking out for the best interest on my father in laws behalf. I dont want anyone to take avantage of him. He then gets mad and tell me to pay it. He was toldly over trying to talk me. I told him i can do what ever i want to do. He say no you cant im a lawyer and your calling a law firm. Then he starting swearing at me something about i dont give a Sh*t. I was like yeah ok pal. Then he hung up on me. I have report them to the attorney general in the state of new york because this was absolutely unlaw, unprofessional, harassing, totally broken hepa laws.
