I went into the walmart store at approximately 5:30 sunday evening, february 13. I waited my turn in line at customer service only to be given information i thought would never happen at a walmart store. I submitted to the sales associate my receipt for a plasma tv that i purchased in decatur, il. While visiting my brother for the thanksgiving holiday. February 10th my plasma tv would no longer come on and stay on. I called the customer service number in my instruction booklet. I was told to fax a copy of my receipt and the serial number of the tv. After i fax the info requested of me i realized that i had the tv less than 90 days and thereby would be allowed to return the tv for an exchange or a full refund. Since i did not hear from jerry that is what i decided to do. When i submitted my receipt to the sales associate she alleges that she was not able to match the serial number and consequently could not exchange or return my money. She called robert the manager on duty. He suggested that i carry the tv back to decatur, il where i purchased the tv. Mind you i live in collierville, tn. I was told that i could exchange any item bought at a wal mart store at any wal mart store in the country. Robert said that was not true and they should not have told me that. I called the decatur store on the associates cell phone. The mgr spoke with me and then ask to speak with the sales associate. They spoke briefly and i believe he told her how to handle the transaction from what she conveyed to me. However, she went to find the manager. He comes back to me and ask me if she told me the bad news. I told him she told me both good and bad. He says i cant help you. You will have to take it back to decatur, illinois to exchange it. I ask "are you serious". I told him i will have to seek counsel it is not my fault that the decatur walmart store did not put what ever information you needed, i need you to do something. He told me in a very nasty and beligerent manner, " i will not talk to you any more"well to make a long story short i went to the winchester walmart at 7525 winchester road. They exchanged my tv and told me that the reason whythe collierville store would not exchange my tv is because it would cut into their sales profits. Therefore they encourage people to return items to the store they purchased it at in order not to decline their sales. I am 68 years old and with my diabetes i dont need the kind of stress robert and the sales associate who conveyed that she has to do what her boss tells her do, which i understand, but because robert was worried about declining his sales he made me struggle to carry a tv i had problems with because of my back, back to my car was unethical and inhumane. I praise your winchester store for refunding my money and for letting me know why robert treated me so badly. I never plan to shop at the collierville walmart again. I am contemplating whether i will shop at any other wal mart store again after shopping at wal mart for more than 35 years. I appreciate if someone in authority would reprimand or possibly dismiss robert for such unethical and unprofessional behavior.
