Per my leasing agreement, my move out date with Sunrise Bluffs was January 31. As of January 27th, Sunrise Bluffs maintenance team entered my home (instructed by the leasing office) and disposed of the remaining items in my home which were still in the process of being moved as well as damaged the remaining property.
I arrived at my home on January 28th approx. 5:20pm and at this time became aware of the actions the leasing office and maintenance team had taken. I was not contacted through a phone call, letter or any other form of notice as to inquire if I had in fact abandoned the apartment and/or to warn me of the actions that would be taken if so (I.E. The disposal of the remaining items). If so, this situation would never have occurred. I was still in possession of the keys to my front door, swimming pool and mailbox.included in the items were an assortment of tools and a moving dolly (as well as packing tape and moving boxes not listed) that were left in the apartment as evidence that I was still in the process of moving. Upon speaking with the Leasing Office of Sunrise Bluffs that afternoon after I became aware of what had taken place, I was told that the office took FULL responsibility for this matter and for not contacting me. I was also told they had assumed that I had vacated the property therefore abandoning it and instructed the maintenance team to clean out the apartment and dispose of anything left behind. Later that evening (approx. 7:00pm after office hours) I was contacted by Josh (Management) who informed me that I should not worry about cleaning the apartment as the complex would take care of this due to the situation. I declined in doing so and as of January 29th went back to the apartment and finished the clean up as directed on my lease agreement not including cleaning of the carpet.
I have been violated and feel utterly helpless. There is nothing right about this incident legally or morally.
After the fact... I received a letter from corporate today stating that I will receive $0 compensation for my property even though it was THEIR fault.
