Got roped into buying 4 tubs of vanilla icing for my son's school. Arrived at Safeway in Scottsdale, AZ. The Pillsbury icing was buy one get one free at $1.89 each. The Betty Crocker was not on sale and was $2.09 each. Alas, they only had three tubs of vanilla of the Pillsbury brand. Knowing that I probably ought not to sub out flavors and get chocolate, cream cheese, or strawberry - I opted to purchase the three Pillsbury tubs and see if they would allow me to substitute one of teh Betty Crocker.
To my amazement - the cashier did not second question me about the availability, nor did she dump me onto the customer service desk - but rather simply told me that they could give me the $1.89 discount.
It was simple.
It was easy.
It was awesome.
Most of the prices at Safeway are a tad higher than the other stores - but the store is very conveniently located and this simple gesture has really won me over as a customer.
