I think it is admirable that Safeway asks customers if they would like to donate a dollar to this or that charitable cause. What I don't like is, after you have entered your Safeway Club Card number, you are prompted to enter "yes" or "no" to the requested donation. If you answer "no, " the checker is required by Safeway to ask you verbally if you want to donate for the particular cause. THIS IS AN ATTEMPT TO SHAME THE CUSTOMER IN FRONT OF OTHER CUSTOMERS AFTER THEY HAVE ALREADY SAID "NO." I probably donate 100 times as much as Safeway's average customer, so I don't appreciate that tactic.
