Scammers and liars

My sister had me go with her to New Caney from Dallas to look at a horse they had for sale.

When we arrived, the animals were in terrible conditions and many were ill (strangles). This was surprising as at the time they were posing as a "rescue". It turns out the horses were mostly sale barn horses from the area and Cleburne, Mesquite, Emory, Huntsville, etc..

Upon inspecting the horse it was obvious he was much older than advertised, so we looked at others onsite, but the prices rose when you saw them in person it would seem. They ended up pushing my sister into a large thoroughbred gelding that was 4. I had come along to inspect and try out the animal. I attempted to pick up its feet but was unable to without the horse trying to stomp or kick me. They said he was leary of people with his feet because he had been hot-nailed, not a very good reason from my experience, but my sister wanted me to ride him anyway. He was supposed to have been broke, but once out of the round pen he was very keyed-up and unresponsive to the bit.

After that I advised my sister to look elsewhere, but they told her he would have to be taken to a local sale to make room for other horses coming in, and that he would most likely end up in Mexico. Long story short, he wound up in the trailer.

After several weeks of training he still did not improve, he also severely hurt a farrier we use, as well as myself.

We had been told if he didn't work out we could return him for another, after many arguments it was decided he could be brought back. The horse they gave us was almost as bad, he had so many bad habits my sister was terrified of him, so I rode him, but he was proud cut and we have mares so that was another issue. He now pulls carriages in Ft. Worth.

I would not believe ANYTHING these people tell you. Buy at your own risk!!
