In early December I got a storm and my basement flooded with four feet of water and my furnace stopped working. I had someone come out and look at the furnace and they told me it was out of commission and a new one was needed. On or around December the 12th I talked to a representative from San Angelo Insurance Company in Waterbury CT. Within that phone call the representative put the claim in and said someone from the agency would contact me soon. On December the 16th Sue Summy called me and said she was sending out an adjuster and I would be contacted by the adjuster in 24 to 48 hrs. I then received a letter saying that they received my claim and if I had not spoken to someone about “the loss facts and applicable coverage’s” then to call and find out what it covers. I called Sue when I got this letter which was on December 18th and asked her about the coverage’s and she said “We will cover it that is just an acknowledgement letter, we are just waiting for the adjuster to come to your home. I did not hear from the adjuster so within that phone call about the letter I informed Sue that I did not get a call from the adjuster and she gave me the number to the adjuster. When I spoke to the adjuster Charley Bakk on December 20th he told me that Sue had gave him the wrong number that is why he could not get in touch with me. The adjuster then came out to my home on December the 22nd and took photos and record of what had happen. The adjuster his self was very concerned because of how cold it was in my home and said he would put in the claim immediately because it was unbearable. Within two hours I received a phone call from Sue and she said that my insurance does not cover it because the water came through the walls. I could not speak long with Sue because I was at work. When I came home I then called Sue to inform her that the water came through the windows not the walls. Sue gave me a hard time because she told me the insurance would cover it but then told me after the adjuster left that it does not. Sue then told me that I would need government insurance to cover my furnace. I then called and talked to another representative and he said that I do not need government insurance and tried to help me out. Sue then told me that even though the insurance does not cover it was my job to do something about the furnace because the pipes will freeze. I am a single parent and I can not cover the furnace that is why I looked to my insurance and they gave me no help or assistance. Sue gave me an attitude because I wanted more answers about what the insurance actually can do for me. Sue showed no concerned for me and my children. It is very un-humane to live in the bitter cold in the winter and I have two teenage children. I and my children can not even stay in the home because it is too cold to live in. I am desperately seeking help because I can cover the damages done to the furnace and Sentry insurance let me down and left me and my children in the cold.
