I do not know whom to complain to about what they serve and don't serve the inmates at the manatee county jail. My son is incarcerated there. The law is the inmates are to receive three hot meals a day. This facility only serves them to meals that are never hot and a cold deli meat type of sandwich at lunch. They also do not serve any dairy items for the inmates such as milk or cheese. I understand privileges are taken from you when you break the law but no one has the right to take away someone's nutrition. There have been several occasions where the food was not edible due to it being spoiled. On a couple occasions the luncheon meat would have discolouration on the edges, or pieces cut off to hide where it had spoiled. This is not right. People, inmates shouldnt have to choose between weather to go hungry or eat the deplorable food they are being served. Of course the only other solution is commisary. This is where family members or friends of the inmates can and usually do put money in an account so the inmates may order and purchase pre packaged food. Such as chips, soups, coffee ect. Not exactly nutritional but atleast its not rotten. It's unfair to the families of inmates because were being given a similar choice. Either we put money in their accounts or knowingly aware our loved ones (no matter what they did you still love them) are being served unhealthy, unediable, and unnutritional food. Somethings you just don't have the right take away from others. Please help me fix this unethical problem. Thankyou, very concerned Mothe
