There is only one word to describe this prison, and that's DISGUSTING! The plastic and cloth mattresses that the inmates are expected to sleep on are often riddled with dirty, stinky smells, feces stains, urine stains, and are in poor repair. If that's not disgusting enough, the shower areas have a SMELLY odor and rust-orange fungi problem to match the prison itself.
Meals are served are trays which are not properly washed and sanitized. I seriously doubt if anyone& inmates or food prep staff& have been properly trained in proper sanitation, food storage, and food preparation. And as far as how much food you're served, you might as well be living in a concentration camp& because that's about how much food you're being given. Not only that, to add insult to injury you're given an end-weekly meal that contains just about everything that you were served in the last 7 days.
Anything you're given to clean the facility with is either dirty, smelly, and/or just plain inadequate in getting rid of the filth and odors residing in the prison and in the inmates' clothing and bedding. Just because inmates are told to sweep, mop, and clean all the living and shower areas, does not mean that the jail itself is being cleaned and sanitized.
i really feel sorry for the women of this prison. They are locked up more than the men. And as far as any work details that help them to pay the rent or earn extra privileges, it's all given to inmates that the prison officials and guards like (there's nothing fair about how inmates are assigned work details that get them very little extra food & a few extra privileges). And since women are never assigned to the kitchen, they starve worse than the men if the women don't have any money for commissary. I'm just wondering how some of these guards and prison officials would like it if they had to eat crappy food, sleep on a dirty mattress and linens, and be made to wear only two already-dirty uniforms per week!
This prison should be made to clean up its act, or be made to close. And as far as medical care, it's worse than inadequate. Thank God I wasn't a woman in DCP, or a pregnant woman at that.
And by the way, there's only control and custody there& no care at all. No matter what these inmates have done, no one deserves to be treated and fed inhumanely!!!
