My wife & i are customers with saks fifth ave now for almost 40 years. We both have been doing our buying religiously there all this time. This year i noticed that all major stores in ny put big ads in local newspaper wishing their jewish patrons " a happy new year" and so forth. The exception was saks. When i called i was told that they did not have a budget at "this time" for puting such an ad. They said they of course agree that they should follow their local competitors blahblahblah.in essence, they are not interested in wishing their jewish customers any good wishes, just grabbing their wallets & the hell with their jewish customers.
So my advice to my new york jewish friends is watch out next year in your local newspapers and you'll see that saks will only skip advertising that one day of rosh ashannah and then return to advertising the following day and every day thereafter.
