Man was violently banging on my door, I was afraid to answer. He began ringing doorbell over and over, I went to door and asked if I could help him. He said he was there to pick up Malibu. I do not own, nor am not in possession of vehicle. I told him to leave a card, and I would have someone contact him. He began raising his voice yelling at me, the main thing I remember him saying is "was going to bring sheriffs from 2 counties tomorrow if I did not give him the vehicle." I thanked him and told him good bye. He said "What?!!". I responded good bye again, and asked him to get off my porch. A few minutes later I notice he has backed his truck up, out of view from my door or front windows, and is blocking my driveway, his truck partly in my driveway. I went outside and and asked him to move his vehicle, as he was blocking the driveway. Again he responded "What". I repeated request for him to move his vehicle from my property. He told me he wasn't going anywhere. That's where it became potentially violent. I respect my right to bear arms, and will protect myself and my property.in terms probably inappropriate for this site, I made that very clear to him. He told me he still wasn't moving. I said ok, and retreated to the house.
When I returned he had driven away from my home. I live on a circle, on a private drive. He positioned his vehicle so he could look directly at my house. I walked half way to his vehicle and asked him to get away from my house. He yelled "you need to pay your bills"... Then he proceeded to repeatedly blow the horn, as if to furthur antagonize me, and my neighbors. I informed him that I would be calling the police, which I did, and read his license number to them. He left after that.
1) No one deserves to be disrespected in a collection attempt.
2) He had no right to use that level of aggression.
3) He attempted to create an embarrassing situation for me at my home
all about a vehicle that is not mine, that I am not, and have never been in possession of. It belongs to a family member, and is registered at another address, in another city, in another county.
Shame on you Burns Towing for employing that mentality within your company. Shame on you Burns for encouraging that type of activity. There was a senior partner in the truck that never tried to stop him. Shame on you Burns for not recognizing the seriousness of such an encounter. Someone could have gotten seriously hurt. I could have hurt him or he could have hurt me, in either case you would have suffered some liability in that.
Do yourselves a favor, and clean your house up. I will be waiting for the day when I hear of some tragedy surrounding a repo gone bad. I will use this email to indicate that you have been advised.
