Last year in August my mother called cps to report me. I never found out what reason she gave them but it had to do with her feeling concerned for my daughter because my bi-polar symptoms seem to be particularly bad for sometime. I admit I was feeling depressed but it was not critical, and due to feeling depressed i was not keeping the house up.
When the cps worker came to my house right away she told me she was there with the intention of removing my daughter because of my mental health issues and "unsafe" house. I pleaded with her to talk it out with me so I could explain I was not too depressed to take care of my daughter and I could have whatever done with the house she wanted me to do but she said no she has to go.
My worker told me she was putting me on an unofficial plan to get my daughter back into my home. I never really understood what that meant but I know I never saw a judge or anyone else for that matter accept for that one worker. She said I had one month to get help with my depression, and to get my house appropriate according to her.
During the first couple of weeks of waiting to get my daughter back my depression became a serious problem. CPS's involvement caused me to have a full blown episode because I couldnt understand why they took her away based on things my mother told them. I was no longer feeling confident so I asked my worker if she could put me in a program for mothers that are involved with cps that keep the mom and child living together in a safe structured place. She said absolutely not, you are not even an "official" case. She then proceeded to tell me I only have twelve days left to come up with a plan that satisfies her or my daughter would have to be made permanent arrangements away from where ever I would be living.
Two days later I was able to purchase a mobile phone because my comcast phone had been dissconnected when I called my worker. She told me my daughter would not be coming home to me. She used the excuse of not hearing from me for a couple of days so she decided to ignore the thirty day plan I was entitled to which would give me my daughter back and instead she called my parents informing them she thought it was best if they go to the judge and ask for temporary legal guardianship. My worker didn't even have the decency to tell me what was going on so I could have at least gone to court to speak to the judge and my parents to tell them not to do this. She didn't need to be taken out of my care.
In the end I didn't get her back. The thirty days I was promised by cps was cut short because the cps worker got impatient, busy, or bored, and I lost my daughter. I just dont understand why I lost her and why cps didn't help me get her back, they gave her away instead and I'm more than devastated I feel dead inside.
