Because of upgrades to our heating system our bill has been consistantly lower for 2008 and 2009. Equitable showed up unannounced to change the meter while we where at work. She got 3 different stories as to why they were there. 1. Was that there was a conflict in the readings @ their office as compared to the actual meter readings. 2. Someone in the neighborhood smelled gas, the house next to meter in abandonded. 3.) Our meter was out of date and needed to be replaced. So based on Equitable's line checks both inside and out side lines failed the pressure test. The service Tech. Said both lines failed, but when we called customer service they said it was only the inside lines, who do you believe. Then when they were telling my girlfriend about the line they thought it was rather funny telling her the problems, but how do we know they just didn't feel like reinstalling the meter because they are lazy because this happened on a Friday and felt like leaving work early! If we are to pay for all these high prices, so they can collect their money, why do we not get to monitor how are money is spent, I sure don't want lazy Techs. Working for me! So they left needless to say leaving the gas manifold and meter on the porch and told her she was on her own. Why should the homeowner be responcible for paying to fix any problems with what is required for the utility companies to collect their money? No one bailed me out when my Car Wash failed, I was jailed for Bankruptcy Fraud by the IRS. Yet big business, as you have seen on TV, get bailout packages and million dollar bonus's for running the Company into the ground. You tell me is this really the American Dream. If you ask me the Federal Government is no better than the Mob. At least with the Mob I could have sought protection for these utility Companies mistreating us like that. Mininum wage keeps going up, but who really pays? Your right the average Homeowner you and I.
