On feb 2 my daughter and i went into target (greenville, nc 27834) to purchase a calculator. We went to the section and saw the choices. The one the school suggested was expensive ($95), so we kept looking for one that was a little cheaper, but still had the main thing that she needed. The 1 we picked ($50) had a label in front of the keypad and we couldn't see if it had what she needed. We were in the section for a few minutes then we walked up front to talk to a cashier to see if they could help us. But they both were busy so we went back to the area and looked some more. If the 1 we picked didn't have what she needed we were going to buy the $95 one. Not knowing that my daughter and I was being watched, (by a female not in uniform) we went back up front to ask for help again. This white female asked can she help us and I looked to see who she was talking to, because she wasn't dressed in uniform i wasn't sure. I said yes, i told her i wanted to know if she could tell us if the calculator had what we needed, we couldn't see behind the label. She took it out my hand, gave it back and said yea if the rest of them got it this one do to you going to buy it. If we needed to get the expensive 1 then i was, that's why i needed her to help us. I would of spent the extra $50! My daughter needed it. We got home she went to do her homework but it didn't have what she needed. I got very upset, because I asked before i bought it. I don't like returning things. Then it hit me, how this white female so busy thinking i was trying to steal out of my favorite store that she couldn't even help us out. She treated us like thieves and not as paying customer. I don't like the fact that she judged me by the size of my pocketbook (which she had a big one too) as well as my skin color. (african american) It has taking me awhile to write this because i needed to find out her name-i just have her first name (Renee) but she works in the greenville, nc store. I feel as though she owes me an apology. If she would have helped us out instead of acting like an undercover cop my daughter would of had the right calculator and we wouldn't have had to bring that one back and go to another store to get the one we needed. Although i love target i haven't been in there like usual because of this incident. I am truly offended by this female's action.
