What a Rip-Off Feb 24
We were approached by phone to sell our timeshare at Celebrity Resorts in Kississime Florida. They asked us what we would take for the timeshare and we said we would take $ 8,000. But the salesman, Bill, said they could get $18,900 for it and it would be marketed on 6 websites which were listed in our contract. They also stated that they not only list the timeshare on the websites, but they also did promotional sales ads which would be submitted over 12000 search generators on the internet as well as targeted traffic and promotional presentations. (I doubt if this was done). They listed it for $18,900 on 6 websites in a one line ad among hundreds of other timeshare listings.
I checked each of the 6 listed websites to see what kind of advertising they were doing and I only found the one-line listings. Only when I clicked on the one-line listing did I find any advertisment which listed the price as $ 18,900.00 negotiable and a few pictures of the main resort, but not our unit at all. I doubt if they even visited the resort.
The contract also stated that if we sold the timeshare within the (2) year period, we would be refunded the $ 899.00. But when we transferred our timeshare and I asked for a refund, they pointed out that in our contract it had to sell within 25% of the asking price of $ 18,900.00. I checked the contract letter and it states this as they said.
I don't feel that they did any marketing at all, except list it in a one-line ad. There was no other promotional things going on that we could tell. But I would recommend that no one do business with this company at all. It is a real rip-off. We eventually transferred our timeshare with another company and we had to pay $4,000 to get the transfer done. The next company said they have transferred it, but we have not yet received any paperwork to show that it is transferred out of our name. We are still waiting and it has been since January since they told us it was transferred to a new owner.
