Not so New LLC Buyer Beware - What a Rip Off!

Iwent to this dealership yesterday (2/15/09) to look at a cheap vehiclethey had listed for sale on their website and autotrader - a 1996Pontiac Transport Minivan, for $1298. Now I am an unemployed studentcurrently living off financial aid, so my budget for a used car is nomore than $1500. I'm not stupid - I know that for that price a usedvehicle is going to have some problems. So even though the guy I spoketo when I called before I went down (to make sure the vehicle had notyet been sold) told me that they had just put new brakes on the vehicleand that there was nothing else wrong with the vehicle except for partof the turn signal lever being broken (but it still worked), I ofcourse was not going to believe him.

SoI took the vehicle over to my mechanic at Goodyear. And let me say thatin 10 years I have never had a problem with Goodyear. They've alwaysbeen super nice to me - the last state safety inspection that I hadthem do prior to this one, they spent 2 hours inspecting the car anddidn't charge me a dime, and they've always treated me well. Oh and since I didn't purchase the car that I had them inspect today, they offered - without me even having to ask - to do a pre-purchase and inspection on the next vehicle I look at, for FREE. And put that in writing on my receipt. I willtrust Goodyear mechanics for the rest of my life. Anyways. This vehiclethat supposedly had "nothing wrong with it" turned out to have alaundry list of problems. Brake lines were leaking, oil was leaking, transmission fluid was leaking (and the transmission pan was missingbolts!), the radiator was leaking, the latch on the rear hatch wasbroken so that the hatch wouldn't open... There's a lot more but that'swhat I remember, as I gave the paperwork listing all the problems tothe guy who drove the vehicle over to the Goodyear with me (I don'tcurrently have insurance, plan to buy a new policy when I buy avehicle) to take back to the dealership so that they know about thesethings. I of course declined to purchase the vehicle.

Idoubt, though, that the dealership is actually going to do anythingabout these problems, and is just going to try to sell the vehicle asis to the next sucker to come along. BEWARE!!!

Ohand yes the guy that drove the vehicle over for me, while we werewaiting for Goodyear to get done with the inspection he tried to get meto join a pyramid scheme that he is involved in. Ha!
