Kodak i40, Kodak ESP 7 Customer Service Nonexistent, does not update drivers for Windows 7, printer stinks

Kodak company... Where do I start.

I spent about $1,000 on a new scanner for my small business called the Kodak i40. I do everything through scanning. Without scanning, my company is dead in the water. It was a great scanner for me when I had Windows XP. Then my computer crashed several times (it was a Dell XPS 1710 - overheated graphics card). So I bought an HP Pavilion computer with Windows 7 64 bit. I then attempted to install my $1,000 Kodak i40 scanner. Well, it turns out my driver was for 32 bit. So I went to the Kodak website, thinking it would be available for download. I guess one would think that a multi-million dollar corporation such as Kodak updates its drivers for the newest operating systems that come out. But I was WRONG. They do not have a 64 bit driver for Windows 7.

So here I am up a creek without a paddle. I then searched around and found countless other people who have had this same problem. I saw one post that said I should call technical support. So I called technical support from Kodak. They took my name and phone number and said they would call back within 24 hours. 48 hours went by - no call. So I called back, I told the operator I hadn't received a call back yet. So they finally let me through to a technician. The lady on the phone (let's call her "Gale"), said they didn't have a driver yet for that. So I asked her if they were developing one. She said, I don't know. I then said, what is the solution? She stated that she would forward my complaint up and "we will see". I said, "what does that mean? In the mean time, are you guys going to send me a replacement scanner or refund my money?" And she said, "you will have to go to the retailer for a refund". So I told her that is ridiculous. It isn't the retailers fault that a mega corporation doesn't update their stinking software as operating systems change. She said she would then try to get me a refund and that they would contact me in a week.

A week went by and I heard nothing. I called back, got through to "Gale" and she stated that the manager was on vacation and won't be back until Monday to address my issue. But when he comes back, they will call me. It has been about 2 weeks since "Monday" and I haven't heard anything.

So I am posting this, hoping that people realize Kodak doesn't update their drivers. My company just bought another $1,000 scanner - the Xerox DocumMate 262i. What a great scanner. Much faster, has a Windows 7 driver, and it isn't a Kodak piece of junk.

Kodak cost me $1,000 buck that my company flushed down the drain during a tough economy.

I also bought a Kodak ESP 7 printer before I realize I didn't like Kodak anymore. And the printer sucks. It locks up during printing. The paper holder is flimsy and breaks off. When it prints my documents, the papers are always out of order and I have to reorganize them. I have had to replace the ink arlready, and i just bought the darn thing. Don't ever buy Kodak again. They will leave you, the customer, hanging and screw you over.
