We received a letter and check stating we had won some shoppers sweepstakes. The letter states the check is for the taxes owed on the 125,000 dollars that we had won. When you call the claim number the gentlemen asks you to deposit the check and call him when it is deposited and the rest of the winnings would be sent out after that. After check is deposited and you make the phone call he tells you to western union the tax payment and then the big check would be sent Fed-Ex. Well needless to say there is no big winnings, the check is bogus, and once you send the tax money you are out the money and on the hook for bad check. Remember you don't need to spend money to win money, Taxes can be deducted from winnings.
