Spreen Dishonest Service - Part did not actually need to be replaced

I took my 2003 Honda Element into Spreen in December for scheduled maintenance and a SRS light on (airbag).

Spreen diagnosed the SRS light as a faulty seatbelt buckle which is covered under warranty. The part was ordered.

Jan I took my Element in for the part replacement. Picked up the vehicle and began driving home and noticed the warning light was still on. Spreen advised to bring the car back in for the system to be reset.

The next day, I brought the car back in. I received a call saying they had bad news that the reset did not work and it is in fact the whole SRS unit that needs to be replaced (est. $540.00, not under warranty). I refused the service in order to get a second opinion. Bob Martin, Spreen Honda Service Mgr., provided little compensation for the hassle of bringing my car in multiple times for diagnosis (even driving off the lot with the problem still there... Basic problem solving skills).

I took my car to another service provider. They hooked the car up to the computer to read the codes and noticed there is no current code, only the seat belt code in the history section. The repairman reset the history code and the light is off. He said there was absolutely no current or history with a code that signifies a faulty SRS control unit. My cost at this repair shop = ZERO.

Do not trust a single word from Spreen honda. If you have any items they say should be replaced, please get a second opinion.
