I could not change pest control companies because of a fine print clause in the contract as follows: " This agreement will be for an original period of one (1) year, and shall renew itself automatically for a term of (1) year at the conclusion of initial term, and shall likewise continually self renew automatically for successive one (1) year terms unless notice is received by Lee's by registered or certified mail within 30 days of the anniversary date. Lee's reserves the right to review the $90.00 service charge after the first year."
The owner would not let me off contract as I requested, after I explained I was unhappy with the pest control. Threatened to sue me, if I changed pest control contractors!
Notice the above stipulations! You can not cancel the service unless you send a notice of cancellation within 30 days of the anniversary date. They will not accept a notice outside of the 30 days. Seems they anticipate owners will fail to comply with the 30 days notice, which would lock them into another unwanted year on contract.
Such perpetual never ending contracts should be illegal; after the first year, the customer should have the right to quit the contract by written notice regardless if the reason is financial or poor service performance.
Never sign a contract with such stipulations shown above!
