African Braid Action II
Braided hair so tight that I had a headache for 2 day. I now have 7-10 bald spots

I have been wearing sew in weaves for over 10 years for the convenience and because it is less tension than chemicals, hot curlers, etc. I paid the braider, Natu, 60 extra dollars to take down my hair, shampoo it, blow dry it, and redo it. After shampooing it. She gave me the comb and told me to comb it out. I refused and reminded her that I was paying her and extra 60.00 for that. First she braided my hair so tight that I was not able to function for 2 days. I delayed my trip, to attend my daughter’s graduation in Houston, TX. For 2 days. I have NEVER had braids sewn so tight that it was painful. I was told to spray oil sheen on my scalp and apply a warm compress.

2 days in the back of my head, the nape area, my hair was braided so tightly, that the tension ripped the braid from my scalp leaving a bald spot that was beginning to scab over, thus itching because it was healing. Once the rest of my hair was taken down, I was horrified. I have so many bald spots that is a crying shame. She actually tied my hair in knots, so that there was no choice but to cut the knot out because the knots was so small and tight they couldn’t be combed out without pulling my hair out from the roots.

People hair shed daily, while wearing a sew in weave the hair does not shed because it is braided, however when the weave is taken down, shedding is expected, but I have never, never, ever, had bald spots nor damaged ends. This is blatant negligence or maliciousness on the behalf of Natu.
.
Either she did not know what she was doing or she did it out of anger because I refused to comb out my hair although I was paying and extra 60.00 for or she thought I was someone else that she had a problem with. She told me repeatedly that she had braided my hair before.

Their customer service is even worse, to add insult to injury 2 days after having my hair done I contacted, Bernie, the owner, at the Winchester location. I explained my situation he hung up in my face and had the manager, Billy; at the American Way shop call me. She said I wasn't getting my money back and she's going to "Leave It In God's Hands†There was not even an apology. There was no remorse, but plenty of arrogance, patronizing, and sarcasm.

Initially, my appointment was with Billy. However, Billy was not there so Natu did my hair. That was my second and last visit at their establishment.

No one should have to endure what I am going through. My hair was long, thick, in excellent condition before this. It is heartbreaking and devastating.

I wore a weave because I wanted to, now I have to wear one or a wig to cover all the bald spots I now have. Wearing one out of choice is quite different from wearing one because there is no other option.

I have between 15-20 pictures to substantiate my claim. Most of the pictures were taken to show bald spots with the weave in and during the process of taking it down, to show that the balding was a result of the braids, Natu, put in.

My hair was not in the condition as it is now. More than likely, it will be stated that I had the bald spots when I came in. If that was so, as a cosmetologist, Natu, refused to do my hair, pointed out the bald spots and had me, sign a release form, which states I had bald spots and my hair was severely damaged. This is the common process at other salons in the area.
