Jackson Hewitt - ipower
Sent my money to the Wrong Bank and was returned to the IRS

My husband and I had our taxes done at our local Jackson Hewitt office on 1-14-10, we were chose to have our taxes deposited onto the i-power card and chose to wait the 8-15 days to avoid paying a fortune... Allthough we still were told the fees were neatly $300.
We were told the direct deposit would occur on 1-29-10. So we waited all day to hear form Jackson Hewitts call to inform us the deposit had been made. We waited all day. We were calling the 800 numbers given to us to track the deposit and eventually found out the deposit was made just before midnight on the 29th.
We checked the balance on the card and it was zero. We called the office and they said to go ahead and activate the card to see if the balance was on it instead of looking online. Still a zero balance. We called the Republic bank that the i-power card was issued through to see if they had an explanation.
They told us they had our money sitting in their bank but could not release our money because they had not received an application from Jackson Hewitt. We called JH and they said they would contact the bank. Several hours and phone calls back to JH gave us no answers. Come to find out the bank had to return our money to the IRS because the bank our money was sent to was not the bank that is affiliated with the JH offices in this area.
After calling JH back again to let them know we were able to get ahold of the bank (they claimed to have been waiting for a return call when we called them) they barely apologized. We were told that our refund was the first to be done by this man this year, that no-one else had reported a problem and that it was a computer glitch.
Well this computer glitch obviously had nothing to do with any wrongdoing on our part, but yet when we asked if we were still going to have to pay the $300 in fees we were told we would get a bill in the mail. So we still have to pay for Direct Deposit allthough the IRS will be sending us a check in the mail, which we have been told it could take anywhere from 7 days up to 8 weeks.
