I have a clear cut case against a collection agency. Simply put, I disputed the debt and demanded they do not call me for any reason. The letter was mailed and received via certified mail. The collection agency continued to call me—23 times total and reported the alleged debt to a credit bureau. Despite my efforts to have the collection agency comply with the law, it was time to seek out an attorney.
I contacted Matthew Weisberg (http://www.ppwlaw.com/Bio/MatthewWeisberg.Asp) The website looks great, they appear assertive, and are consumer protection oriented. WRONG.
Despite the fact I was advised Weisberg was provided the material requested, the fact is he did not receive my letters to the collection agency, credit report, or taped collection calls. Thus, everything an attorney would need to know if he had a case&he never reviewed a single piece of paper. After waiting a week for my interview, Weisberg told me to wait a few more days and his partner who handles collection agency lawsuits would speak to me. Thus, a week to speak to Weisberg, now another 'few days' to speak to an attorney who handles the very issue I inquired about! He used profanity and told me to 'grow up', well if allowing your law firm to be ran by legal assistants is 'growing up' thanks Matt, I will stay diligent in my efforts to document your arrogance and stupidity while in school.
My opinion concerning Matthew Weisberg is simple: very inefficient law firm, it appears he's been forced to dismiss multiple cases based on a record check, the Matthew Weisberg couldn't answer the most basic questions concerning consumer rights, in fact—Matthew Weisberg can't point to a single lawsuit on his website alleging sucessful cases, but alleges to represent tons of people (personally, I would think this attorney could find 1 client to post a testimonial, or site a case with suscessful results)
DO NOT HIRE this law firm—in my opinion. It appears a legal assistant will handle the case, and when you finally speak to an attorney, he will have no idea 'what' your issue is about, since the legal assistant never forwarded important documents for the attorney to review.
