Damn the same RTCE took advantage of me also. I responded to an article in the local paper for AVAILABLE SECURITY POSIIONS. Not knowing the next 24 hours I would learn to regret for the rest of my life. Considering I had just received my 8 hour and 16 hour Certificates less than 2 weeks ago I was more than eager to put my skills learned to use ASAP. Normally I would have been more cautious but they seemed sincere.
After I left a message a Ms. Destiny called back and said come in with $125 for the UNIFORM. She gave me exact directions to her office for a 5pm next day interview/start date. Excited to finally be working, I borrow the money calculating I'd be able to pay back on my first check because Ms Destiny is telling me exact job functions I will be performing. Sitting at a receptionist desk, signing visitors in and out and watching monitors. Good nothing physical and I don't have to stand in one spot all day. Loved it. She also had the nerve to tell me the starting salary of $9 an hour to start and going to $15 an hour once I receive my NYS Licensing ID card.
I go dressed to impress in my business black suit, white collared shirt and ready copies of resume. Problem begins as the story changes once I get there. Place seems like one of those put together cubicles. All of a sudden me and 4 others are swept into a room for a 5 minute talk about nothing. They pull you out the room for a supposed application to sign. Now in order to get this "dream" security job it required me to also get a FireGuard license ($149) and Metal Detection training ($249).
These folks at RTCE must rip folks off daily because by me not knowing any better I thought I was coming to a legit company and not a scam. I came in looking for a job not to pay for additional training. You are supposed to be the professionals so if RTCE recommends it I must need it. Little did I know.
Well they say initial here and sign this and before I know it they have me rescheduled to come back in a week with a BALANCE DUE of $298. I was shocked and didn't want to appear inexperienced as I realized something was definitely wrong.
You see as soon as you walk in their doors, RTCE has already made up their minds that your UNIFORM deposit is now their mysterious deposit of imaginary training you need. So out of the $125 I brought in according to what I initialed the First $1 to $100 is NON-REFUNDABLE. And ti think Peoples Court is one of my favorite shows (smh).
After getting home and realizing I didn't need the Metal Detection, Weapons of Mass Destruction and Rocket Scientist Training I felt emotionally raped. Whatever is past being pissed is not close to how mad I am.
It's ridiculous how companies like this are allowed to operate and prey on the UNKNOWING INDIVIDUALS like myself in an economy we are experiencing.
If there is anyone out there that has powers to put scam training companies like this out of business please let me know.
