Yesterday, 01/26, i received a letter in the mail from a so called collections agency, georgia check recovery. The letter stated that it was a third notice for a check that had not cleared from 06/30, i never got a first notice, that i need to call them a.S.A.P. Or they will turn me over to a company that deals with over 300,000 companies and will tell them not to take my checks, and that i will be turned over to the da and sued.
I phoned this so called collections agency today, 01/27. I spoke to a mrs. Raegan at 12:05P.M. She told me the check #, the place where the check was made out to (western sizzlen), the bank i use to bank at at the time the check was made. The thing that struck me as odd is that she told me that i owe $122.76, i spoke up and said excuse me i do not recall eating $122.76 worth of food and i would have to contact the bank that i used at the time the check was made, over 3 and 1/2 years ago. She said well i do have a copy of the check in front of me, i said then what is the real price of the check. She then told me that it did not say the real amount just my info. I then said so what are you saying you just made up a price for me to pay you? She then said that it was fees added to the amount after it was insuficiant. I said well i'm going to check with my bank and i will get back with you. She then said well make it snappy because if this is not paid by friday, 01/29, we will take you to court!
I then hung up on her and phoned the bank i used at the time that i made that check out. The bank manager said that she pulled it up and the checked did in deed clear and it was only for $22.92 not $122.76!! So i went straight to the bank and got the bank statement proving it did clear.
I then phoned georgia check recovery back at 1:10 P.M. The person who answered the phone said her name was bailey, then she transfered me to mrs. Wades and mrs. Raegan. I foundthat strange that i was transfered to 2 people. I explained to them that the check did in fact clear. They told me to fax all the info to them and they will make it to where i do not have to pay the $122.76 just a $54 fee to georgia check recovery for western sizzlen putting me into collections in the first place. I said that does not make any since to me at all because the check was paid that i should not have been put into collections at all! Mrs. Raegan then said that i can pay the $54 or the letters and phone calls will continue and i will be sued by them. I then advised her that i work with collection agencies as well where i work and we do not make the patient pay their collection fee that it is taken out of colletions check to us. She kept arguing with me. I then asked her what is the date that western sizzlen put me into collections because i have not moved from where i lived when i wrote this check that did clear and my # is the same. She then said well i do not know the date they put you in collections, probely the same day the check did not clear. I told her again the check cleared the frist time. She then screamed to me you can pay up the $54 before 01/29 or i will turn you into the da! Then she hung up on me.
I was so mad by this time that i phoned the western sizzlen and spoke to the owner. He advised me that he has never used a collections agency, to bring a copy of the letter to him and he will turn it into the proper athorities. So today after i get off of work that is what i am going to do.
I just hope that georgia check recovery will be stopped once and for all!!!
So if you receive a letter from them please do not pay or give into them, they are so sick and twisted for stealing peoples money and identities!!!
