I was notified by this company about a returned check that took place in 2006. The letter was dated Jan. 30 and said third notice with very little info on the check they had just a number and date of check.
This was the very first notice I had recieved. I called the company about the check and they would not give me any info on the bank or merchant of the check willingly I had to guess the bank.
They were rude and all they would say is that I had three days to give them $86.00 or there would be a court hearing.
I then looked up the bank I had used back in 2006 and called the bank the check was wrote on to find if the check had been returned and/or paid for.
The bank supplied me with proof that the check had been returned in Aug. 2006 and paid to the merchant in Sep. 2006 including fees. The bank said that I did not owe for this check.
I told the bank about the letter I recieved from Georgia Check Recovery and the website I found about them ripping others off. The said that the check was never sent to this company by them or the merchant.
I contacted the company about this and they argued with me and said I had to fax them all my proof with the letter they sent to me.
This company, Georgia Check Recovery, is a fraud and it will rip you off! Make sure that this does not happen to you!
Ask the bank for proof the check was returned first. If so pay the merchant for the check or pay through the bank. Do not give this company any money!
