MG Research and Marketing Inc has sent letters stating the person receiving has been selected to help with a research project pertaining to Moneygram. They enclose a check for nearly 3700 dollars, about 500 of which is supposed to be to you for helping with the research.
You deposit the check into your account, withdraw 3100 when funds become available, then send the money via Moneygram to Atlanta, Ga.
Because they say this is a research project pertaining to Moneygram's customer service, you are not supposed to inform the employees why the transaction is taking place.
The checks are issued through Mississippi Employees Federal Credit Union. I spoke with a representative of the credit union, and their legitimate institution is a victim of MG's scam.
If you receive this letter these checks are not legitimate. I have contacted Mississippi Employees Federal Credit Union to make them aware.
The listed VP of Operations for MG is Richard Panning, phone number is 917-289-0676. If you have this check DO NOT deposit it. I did not, so I am unsure of what will happen if you do, but they are NOT associated with Mississippi Employees Federal Credit Union or money gram.
