My first visit to Am. "Best", had me waiting 40 minutes past my appointment time. Otherwise, no major issues. Then this year, I took myself and both my daughters and husband to get contacts/glasses. I made appointments, one after the other. I told them on the phone when I made the appointment and again when we checked in, that my youngest needed to get contacts before school on Monday so if they couldn't get us all in, I would get mine later. Needless to say, we waited 45 minutes past appointment time-again. They first called my oldest back, then my husband, then me-until I told them I would go last-the only one that really needed an exam was the one they were going to call last! Finally get exams done and they tell me it is too late in the day for her to get contacts because the dr. Would have to stay an extra 20 minutes and that would be 10 minutes after closing! But I had to wait 45!? Then the "lady" said my co-pay would be $35. I told her that I checked earlier and my co-pay is $10 for exam and $10 for contacts. She started slamming her finger on the paper that shows $35 saying "IT'S RIGHT HERE-SEE-$35".
I walked over to manager to see if she could call my provider and the "lady" told another worker "someone needs to explain to her how insurance works-GOD!" The manager was very helpful. She told the "lady" that it is in fact $10. As soon as the manager left the area, she continued to bad mouth me-said I was throwing a fit. I never raised my voice, never called her names, simply walked to manager for clarification. THEN, I requested acuvue lenses. The dr. Told me to give sofmed a try-even after I told her the diam. Is slightly larger and hard for my daughter-we wanted acuvue again. Another worker told me to try sofmed and if I don't like them, I can always come back-or should I say, drive another 45 minutes and wait 45 minutes to get acuvue! Then the manager came over and said in a stern voice, "Why don't you want sofmed!"? You should try them and if they don't work come back. We don't have any acuvue in stock-although I had asked the other clerk to check already and they had acuvue2, same prescrip in the case. I'm guessing they get a "per sale" benefit on sofmed. On my way home, I noticed after all that, they had charged my credit card 30% more. I had to call, wait on hold before they credited it back. I will never go back again. I will pay 3x more to have it done right, to get what I ask for, and not have to take an entire day.
