I am writing this to all so they are aware.
About a month ago, my daughter who is interested in the Caylee Anthony case. That is the murdered toddler here in Orlando Fl. My daughter is 15 years old and they are discussing this case in her high school. She googled Caylee Anthony's name and many sites of course came up. After she viewed quite a few forums, and news sites she then went to several blogs. One of which was William Murtaugh. His site is called www.murtwitnessonelive. Blogspot.com. There were posts that talked about Caylee but what drew my daughter in was all the fighting that was going on with the people on this blog. She told me about it and I went there and I knew instantly this is not a place for a child. So I told her to stay away. Well of course kids do not always do what you ask of them. I have 5 children so I know. My daughter ended up revisiting Mr. Murtaughs' site and commented. She left her real email address when she signed in to the blogspot site.
A few days later after my daughter left about 4 comments talking about Caylee, Mr. Murtaugh began to write my daughter. She did not tell me about this immediately or I would have stopped it dead in the tracks. First he asked questions pertianing to the case. Then he started asking personal questions like how old she was. If she had a father in her life? If she had a boyfriend. At first my daughter felt like he was making conversations. Then he got very weird on her. He wanted to talk privately on an instant messenger service. Asking THIS AFTER HE KNEW HER AGE!
This is when she finally came to me and showed me the posts and the emails. I wrote Mr. Murtaugh personally and told him to never contact my child again or I was going to call the police on him. My daughter assured me that she did not give out a phone number, address or anything personal to him.
After a few days later I was very bothered by this whole situation. So I began to investigate myself a bit. I put in Willam Murtaugh into the search engines and I practically fell over. He is well known for let's say LIKING children. And all the other stories I read up on him, just made me ill. I did contact the police to file a complaint. They said since Mr. Murtaugh did not come out and actually plan a meeting that not much would be done. I told the police that if she continued talking to him it would have happened. The police said thank goodness it didn't get that far. I was told to inform every blog owner, forums and where ever they have online predator sites to let them know what happened to my daughter. I was referred here when one of the committee members found him also on this site for a different matter but the engaging with children was mentioned. So I thought I should write my own piece for any of you that have had problems with his nut. If you have contact your local police department. Do not hesitate. Even if they cannot do anything, it will be on file. I also filed a complaint with blogspot but have not heard back yet.
We have to keep our children safe especially nowadays from online sexual deviants. This was a very scary experience for us and I pray that this will not happen to someone else. That is why I am speaking out.
