National Readers Service Convinced me that I had an an agreed contract I am obligated to complete, can't cancel. $39.90/mo x30mo

November 12: I received a phone call from the National Reader Service, Shawnee Kansas. The man on the phone never made it clear of his location, where He was calling from. One address given was: 4812 Cleveland Avenue, Fort Myers, Florida 33901; and another number: If I wanted to change my magazines: (800)-304-8567.

I was informed by either the caller or Jeff Edwards the manager (i can't remember which, or if both), that I had an agreed contract which I was obligated to complete; and that I can not cancel. The stated contract was made some time when I was still living in San Diego California several years back. As far as I can remember, I never agreed to anything over the phone. The person speaking back then (several years ago) spoke very fast, I could only say "Ok?" and then I was duped into giving up my debit card information. I was never given proper time to write down any phone numbers before the "contract" was "agreed to" and the call was ended, such that I became stuck receiving their magazines - unable to do anything about it.

I was supposed to receive a diamond watch in addition to the magazines, but I never saw the watch - but only forms to fill out and send back in order to receive the "diamond watch". Eventually I moved, around July. The procedure in getting my mail forwarded to me to Hawaii from California, somehow it got messed up - so I never received anything from my old address - This includes the magazines.

This time however (Nov 12 '09), I was informed by the caller that the magazines had been getting returned to the sender because my address was no longer valid; AND that I still have an obligated contract to complete, because I agreed to it. Additionally, the company (National Reader Service) had already purchased my magazines from the supplier, and therefore I am obligated to pay for that purchase.

I expressed that I do not want the magazines, and I want out. At about that time, I was handed over to the manager Jeff Edwards, whom pretty much repeated the same information and tried making it more clear to me of my "contract" and my "obligation" or "agreement" that I made in the past (against my will, and tricked into doing).

Soon enough, Jeff Edwards offered me a discount deal, the greatest discount offer that He can give me. So we settled at $39.90 per month (including tax), for 30 months. I was convinced once again to give up my debit card number, and I chose the 2nd day of each month for the withdrawal (payment) to be made from my account.

Things started feeling fishy on top of the pressure that was already put upon me, when I received a letter around Christmas 2009 stating that I will be getting billed every 12th day of each month, and to allow up to 6 months before I will start receiving my magazines. Again, I never wanted any magazines, nor did I ever willingly consent or willingly agree to any contract; but I was pressured into giving up my debit card information.

I never willingly agreed to anything, and I was deceived into giving my debit card information. I want out, Get me Out.
