Dear Phil and to all the parents from the sales crews memorial;
This story has a happy ending because thanks to you all, my beautiful twenty year old daughter, Angela, listened to me (for once) mainly due to the fact that she sat with me at the computer looking up the reputation of Palmetto Marketing, Inc. (now called Premier Marketing Inc and we found where there had been murders, rapes, child molestation, thefts... And then we found Malinda and your memorial pages. Thank you for saving my girl with all of my heart. Had it not been for you, she was to leave at 8:00 PM tonight.
We did everything we knew to do on this end. Called the police, called the long distance numbers to inform their rep to not return to our address, I posted a list of known crimes done by this company and employees on the front door, and left one OTHER paper with a question still unanswered for myself and family It stated:
Our house was the only one on the block that you chose to ring the doorbell! Why?
She didn't go for an interview... I have seen these ads for travel, leave tonight... Where the interviews are held at hotels and seem (are) to good to be true... And I can discourage her easily from these, most generally. But this charismatic thirty something guy stepped out of a white van and came to our door only, in our 'safe' upper-class neighborhood, and rang our front door. She just happened to be the one to answer the door. He mentioned for her to clear a space in our home for them to come to and party and that once the magazines began sales the motel parties would be every night... Rather bold statements once Angie thought about it. But again, why our door? Have they been watching us... Her? Is this how they work?
I'm thankful because I'm an untrusting soul, over -protective mom, and a social worker not afraid to speak out and research companies through BBB and the Internet. My gut feeling was quenched, our hearts broken, and my daughter saved by your web site.
While silently thanking God for you, I also prayed that your pain of loss be eased a bit by knowing that one life was spared tonight because you took the time to work through your grief, promoting a real prevention through public awareness on the Internet.
I am going to call the newspaper tomorrow and see what can be put in local publication before these people get too far away with other children from Decatur, IL.
Any help you can give me as to what to do will be greatly appreciated. And please remember that everyone of you has been the greatest blessing this mom may ever know!
