Complaint / Review
Metro Pontiac
Ripoff, lemon lot

Two months ago I purchased a 1999 Ford Taurus from Metro Pontiac at the Airport Auto Mall in Philadelphia. Unfortunately, I found them when looking for a dealer who could get me apporoved after filing a bankruptcy. The car ran well (at first anyway) and I thought I hit jackpot when I got the approved. Little did I know at the time the vehicle had everything wrong with it that just happens to not be covered by the extended warranty I was talked into buying.

On the way home that day from purchasing my vehicle, I am feeling pretty good right up until I had to hit the brakes on 76 while doing 60 mph. I thought we were having an earthquake. The car shook so badly my children felt it in the back seat. I drove the 1 1/2 hours back the next day to find out what was wrong. I was told by the mechanic upon inspection he found a nut in the wheel well. Yeah, I was a little skeptical myself. He assured me it would not occur again.

Well, it turns out I should have gone with my gut because that car shook all the way home.instead of making the trip the next day I had to work, so I called. I was told by the mechanic that I would have to speak with the sales department to get more work paid for. I protested that he didn't fix it the first time and I shouldn't have to keep driving back and forth. I ended up playing phone tag with the salesperson for a week only to be told to bring the car back. During the course of this week, the car played with me some more.

I discovered the back seat, in which my children sit, was not anchored and could not be because the anchors were broken (this too was not covered by the extended warranty I purchased). I discovered that whenever it rains the front passenger side of the car becomes a wading pool (this too was not covered by the extended warranty I purchased). I also discovered the car stalls and will not start when it is below 40 degrees outside. So, I took the car back to the dealer for more "repairs", they fixed the shaking in the brakes (which turned out to be the rotors simply needed to be cut), the stalling and not starting was unfounded (surprised?), and as already noted above nothing else was covered. So beware consumers of this dealer unless the idea of a car/swimming pool appeals to you.
