I was a long term (over 4 yr) customer of direct TV. I bought a new HD TV and called to get a new receiver. I was told there would be nocharge, and people did this everytime. I asked directly if there was ANYTHING I would be responsable for, I was assured there wasnt. Long story short after the installer was there 3 hours, and broke my garden ornaments, he handed 2 paspers to sign. I thought they were just to show he had completed the work. I asked, and he told me that was correct. Upon further inspection, one was actually a lease agreement, a contract for 24 months. I told him I was not signing this. He called customer service, and the man told me I had to sign it as the new sattelite was up and I had the new box. After 45 minutes of trying to explain what happened, my only option was sign it or have the guy take everything down and they said I would have to pay fo rhis labor. HUH? I have read all over the internet, and this is how direct TV extorts peoiple. I read over 500 complaints regarding this, so it is not just me. I am going to call the DA of Denver and teh FCC and the BBB MOnday and see if there is anything that can be done. This is illegal.
