I purchased a GSD from Fleischerheim and did NOT have a good experience at all, I was unaware of their "operation" until after the purchase. *A warning to all potential Fleischerheim buyers, this is a franchise, Bill and Evy are out of CA but they have kennels throughout the U.S. Run by other breeders that have their "name" attached.* I purchased my GSD from one of the kennels not directly overseen by Bill and Evy, after all the assurance by both of them that this was an Ultimate GSD and his bloodlines were excellent. After I paid for the dog and shipping, he showed up with Fleas and a Hernia. My vet noticed the Hernia during the check up. When we contacted Bill and Evy regarding this, they apologized about the Fleas but not about the Hernia. After some pressing Bill admitted he had only seen the dog once after birth (Yet he could still make the distinction that this was an Ultimate dog) The Hernia operation cost was $500, when I told Evy about this and asked about a discount from the huge purchased price she went ballistic, she actually yelled at me as though she was was insulted. Really? I paid thousands for my dog and on top of that I had pay an extra $500 to fix a hernia he had since birth that was not disclosed to me. — I'm not done - I just had had the Hernia operation for my guy and the Vet discovered he has Worms!!! I was assured that he was getting his vaccinations since birth, but I guess NOT! One more thing, my dog is 6 months old and his right ear is still floppy while the other erect.
So to re-cap-
1. They are a Franchise made up of a series of autonomous breeders throughout the US with the Fleischerheim name.
2. It is not guaranteed Bill and Evy have actually seen the dog for sale on their website (Yet they can determine the cost)
3. My GSD showed up with: FLEAS, WORMS, A HERNIA, and an ear WILL NOT POP UP after 6 months.
4. I had to pay an additional $500 a to fix a hernia that should have been disclosed to me.
