CMS ripoff

Well, we, too, fell subject to the scams and harrasment that comes with it when agreeing to what CMS has to offer. Took us the better part of a year to get out of it, or so we thought.

See, it had started off just like so many others have stated. My husband got a phone call from someone working with his credit card company. They wanted to enter him in a $50,000 give away and all he had to do was sign up for three magazines. And as a special bonus he'd get a diamond ring. Well, the ring never came and the give away never happened, but he did get his magazines for an ungodly sum of money.

The calls seemed reasonable, once or twice a month. Just to confirm. Then they began to be a slight annoyance, once or twice a week. After about five months the harrasment started with phone calls coming at least once a day. After eight months they were coming two to five times a day on our home line and once or twice a day on our cell phone. They'd even gone so far as to leave a five minute voice mail on our cell that lasted longer than five minutes and contained nothing more than room noise.

My husband finally got a chance to talk to them and informed the person on the line that he no longer wanted to be called and that he wasn't interested in anything more they had to offer and that he wanted his name removed from their list.

It worked, so we thought. We hadn't had any phone calls for about three or four months.

This past week we've gotten one call a day, and at first I'd thought nothing of it. Until the third day when they called again, I started getting suspicious. After what we'd gone through with CMS telemarketers, who wouldn't? Today they called, right on schedule, and this time I decided to tell them that we weren't interested and wanted to be removed from their list.

I was informed that only my husband can authorize that and she needed to talk to him regarding his account (Sounds like what some others have written about). I then asked, several times, which account she was referring to and was told that it was an account he had with them from some magazines he ordered. She then corrected herself and said that he didn't have the account yet but if she could speak to him about these magazines...

I then cut her off and asked who she was with. She said she was with some company called Reader's something-or-other. I asked if it was an affiliate of CMS. She hesitated and then said no, she was with Reader's something-or-other.

Now, I know how to deal with CMS, as CMS, should they ever call again, but what about this Reader's company? Is this an affiliate of CMS? Has anyone else had something else like happen to them?
