Fancy gap pottery rips off sunday school class. Refuses refund on defective materials used to support orphanage and nursing homes!

My wife makes quilts for charity. She teaches a Sunday School class of older ladies and they make quilts and give them to nursing homes and a orphanage. Most of the material is donated, but sometimes they have to buy it. Recently they bought about 40 yards of material from Fancy Gap Pottery. The material was defective. The color came off on the other materials and all over her hands. When she tried to get a refund, she was very sternly lectured by the owner. She was told she was going to hell for this and that she was a bad representative of her church. My wife left in tears.

What the owner did not know, is that my wife is being honored this year for 40 years of teaching Sunday School and 50 years as a gospel singer Her brother is a
preacher of 40 years and I am a church deacon. There was no refund made and more material will need to be purchased. Another lady in our Sunday School class makes floral wreathes and sells them to support missionaries. She bought $1500.00 worth of flowers at one time last year. Needless to say, no one from our class or fellowship will buy there again.

Have you ever heard tell of a business owner talking to a customer like that? Be aware, if you buy at this place, you may not get a refund if it is defective. Buyer beware. They are real nice when you are spending money, but lookout if you need to get it back. If they treat a charity like this, how do you think they will treat you?

In all fairness, it should be noted that the owner gave her 20 yards of white material (which we don't need and can't use) in place of half of the defective burgundy material. When they learned that we could not use the rest, they wanted us to leave it with them, no doubt to resell. This material had been cut, this was their reasoning for not taking it back for refund. But they wanted it quickly when they thought it would be destroyed. Since the material is already defective, it should not be resold, therefore cutting it should not have any bearing on the situation, since it it is not fit to resell to start with.
