On Thursday July 16 at approximantly 5:30pm I received a phone call from a wireless number 1-941-961-8518. The caller identified himself as being from a Law Firm named "Law Firm of Crime Monitoring Center" located in Campbell, California. He spoke with an Asian accent and was almost impossible to understand.
He claimed that I owe a pay-day loan company National Advance Pay-Day which I've never heard of. The fact that a wireless caller stating to represent a Law Firm sent up a red flag. After a brief conversation I hung up and dialed the wireless number which reflected it was a non-working number.
This person Jim Brown (what Asian is named Jim Brown) kept calling back everytime I hung up... So I put my wife and she wrote down all the information, then told him there was no way they were getting our banking information and SSN until we got paperwork, and also had a chance to investigate their company.
During the conversation he threaten to have an individual come to our house and escorted to court the following day and would be forced to pay over $5,000.00 if I didn't make an immediate payment of 751.87.
I have never heard nor gotten a pay-day loan from this company and we refused to disclose our financial information. They indicated they would send documentation only after payment had been made. Also said required two letters to be faxed (an apology letter and an authorization letter to debit my account) to fax 213-405-5039 or 310-881-6971.
