Our Freezer was not cooling properly and it was full of fish so I went to the internet to find a local repair company. I got a person on the line and he told me the service call is $45.00 but if they do the work it will be credited towards the price. They also advertise a 30% discount for all new costumers.

Repairman Mike got to our home at 11:00am.in 5 minutes he looked at the freezer took it apart and told me that it is the defrost timer that needs replacement.
He quoted me labor, parts, tax and discount $225.00. I don't know anything about his line of work so I called my husband and let them talk. When I came back the guy was already doing the work.

He hosed out the frozen pieces from around the coils and replaced the part in about 15 minutes. Then he put everything back. He was done in 20 minutes.in the mean time my husband got home and he said I think this guy is ripping us. I asked Mike specifically how much each items cost and he gave me $70.00 for part and $140.00 for labor and he said it was their cost. So he is not making any money on us.

He was very hesitant of giving me the figures and said what are you doing? Are you going to go on the internet? I told him yes and don't worry you are getting your money I just need to know what I am paying for. He got really upset and told me how he hates the internet.
I checked the info on the part verifying part # and the average price on this part is about $11.00. I was so upset. We are having a weak economy and these guys are ripping people off because they know we need them.
Even if he charges $100.00 for the first hour and he was done and out of here within 25 minutes plus the part it should not have been more than $120.00. And in that case where is the 30% discount they advertise on the internet.
I am so upset about this I cannot tell you. I want people to get paid for their work at all times. But let's not take advantage of people.

Can you imagine if this was an old little lady on her social security with her little food supply at stake and they did the same thing to her? I cannot stand the thought of it. How can this be stopped. On top of all he was very rude with a bad attitude and was busy talking to someone in Russian the entire time he was working on the repair.

Hat can be done to protect consumers against such act?
This was not a discount but a 200% markup. Wrong, wrong. WRONG.
Please make sure not to call this company. Save yourself some money and aggravation.
