While their eco cause is laudable, I have been charged 111 for ordering 4 bottles advertised at 9.99. Stay away from being ripped-off by Eco Canteen grossly misleading advertising.

I recently purchased a product from Eco Canteen. It was advertised as 9.99 plus S&H. The TV ad said that I was supposed to be upgraded to a small bottle. Also included was to be a small tote to carry these bottles. However, when I go to the end it charged me 20.95 (9.99 4.95 S&H = 14.94) I thought no problem since I was getting a deal of two canteens plus the additional tote items. I even went as far as getting the upgrade to a special cap (an additional charge of 7.00). After all it was healthierAnd I do not buy plastic bottle of water anyway as it is only a waste of moneyAfter all the water in my area is no different as the water companys put in the store bought water (I am fortunate to live here).
When I contacted them they actually hung up on me when I confronted them about the additional charge. Rudely too I might add! While I was on the Chat line to them I goggled the product and found everyone had similar problems. When I told them and started pasting the sites where the complaints were, they cut me off. Ordered two adult canteens (9.99 5.95 S&H). During order the free insulated tote (4.95 P&H) offer came up which I declined. Order came several days later all in one envelope but included two 1/2 size insulated totes. Picture on website shows full length totes but does have small print that says "style may vary". I called customer service and got Tricia. Told her that I didn't order totes but she said free totes are always included unless you call customer service and have them removed. She said that it was not possible to "not select" to get free totes from only the internet order without calling customer service. She said my order confirmation would have shown this but I never got one after I pressed send order. When I asked about taking them off my bill, she said only after I send them back at my expense. She would not give me her last name and stated she was the customer service manager when asked to speak to her supervisor. When pressed for someone above her she would/could not give a name-only "EcoCanteen". She did say if I wrote to their customer service and ask, which would go to her. She said there has been very few complaints like this. This is a scam.

Started to order canteen and during order realized it was a rip off. I did not complete order. Received order in the mail and the amount quoted in their add was not charged to my credit card but a higher amount. They are forcing consumer to order a cover that is worth about. 20 cents for 5.99 and adding this to the order. Their is no way for consumer to cancell order or decline the cover.

Ordered (2) eco canteens 9.99 ea Cost 5.95 ea for shipping, the totes are free but cost 4.95 ea to ship, (2) spill proof pull tops 4.95 ea. 7.84 for rush shipping (5) business days by us mail. Received all items in (1) envelope (29.74 total shipping) one of the spill proff tops is cracked and both leak out vent hole. Calls to customer service is recorded message to call during business hours. Can not connect to customer service web page.

I went to the ecocanteen website to order a canteen for 9.99 plus shipping after seeing a television ad.By the time I got halfway through the order I could see the price of the canteen was much higher than advertised, including charging extra shipping just to get the CAP to the canteen. This is ABSURD! I did not complete the order and left the website. This was about 10pm on a Sunday night.
By 6 pm Monday, the company put a charge for 42.00 on my credit card. There is NO way to contact them, as the toll-free number goes into the same recording any time of day I call, asking me to call back during business hours. I filled out contact forms on their website and received NO message back.
This is clearly a scam operation. I will probably be able to do a charge-back through my card company, but it is very time-consuming. Be warned of this nationally advertised eco scam.

Company sends the Packing slip... Not the Invoice... Soooo I do not know what the company charges..
Six items were sent to me in a simple large yellow envelope: 2 canteens, 2 insulated totes (advertised for free), 1 never spill pull top and 1 insert... I was charged SIX TIMES the shipping cost... As each individual item was sent separately... Total was $66
I called customer service... And got this answer: Regardless of the fact that everything was sent as one package. The company charges shipping cost for each and every item in the package (as each one was sent separately...)... And she claims it was clearly said on TV... On their site... And when you order over the phone as I did... May be it was indeed said. But that is the SCAM... The way how it was said... Soooo you can't assume that one shipping order will be charged 6X the shipping cost...
Do not purchase from this company if you have moral principles!!! Get similar canteens from COSTCO... $20 for a package of 2 bottles... And you will avoid to be insulted by " ECO canteen"

Love My Eco Canteen

They got me on the S&H, but most of that got reimbursed by FreeShipping.com. The basic price of 9.99 for one was GREAT, but I got 2 and with the 2 koozies & shipping it was $38.82. I DO LOVE the design and quality of the bottles. The opening is about the size of a champagn flute, so easy to drink, fill, or add ice. I keep one filled in the fridge a all times - as I drain one, I re-fill and exchange it with the cold one. The "loose" threading on bottle and cap is very easy to twist open & closed and easier to clean than the tightly threaded bottles I first bought. The "wetsuit" koozie is great to keep my fingers warm, and to carry the bottle around my waist when on long walks. I like the hollow cap because it can be used for rationing out the water a little at a time. I liked them so much I ordered a bigger one (40 OZ) for refills while out & about and two smaller ones (12 OZ) designed the same way - one for my Mom, who doesn't drink as much water as I, and one for my husband's lunch.

Purchaed three Eco Canteen's and was asked to upgrade to Deluxe canteen with stainless steel cap. Don't even believe I selected this but this is what the final order read. Also paid shipping and handeling on each item despite receiving one package. Also charged $4.95 s/h for each FREE tote bag. WHY? Couldn't not get a person on the phone. When you ask questions they don't want to answer on the Customer Service Chat they disconnect you. Despite my order being incorrect they will only take back the item charging you a 15% restocking fee and you still have to re-ship the items back to them. Company has been labeled a scam and I agree. Stay away from this purchase!

I ordered an adult size canteen with an adult size tote. The adult size canteen I received but I got a child size tote. I ordered this quite a while ago to make sure that I got it on time to give as a present. Tried to contact cs by email with no luck. Buyer be ware. Product is only as good as their service.

I was originally contacted by EcoCanteen and sent a sample of the product. The price point was outstanding and their company materials were well thought out. I had no problem with the company and blogged about them until I received SEVERAL complaints.
There is a great deal of confusion as to the cost. The shipping and handling makes the "deal" of 9.99 equivalent to the price of any other bottle of similar quality therefore negating the amazing price. They also have a default option that sends not one but two bottles each with separate shipping costs.
Additionally when you try to contact the company to resolve the issues there is no follow up. I have removed any mention of the product from my blog and I apologized to those who were defrauded by this company. Sadly I am sent many products and items and asked to "review" them so my experience is different than the other consumer and until I am advised I assume they are a legitimate company.
This is not my experience with Eco Canteen at this point. They are to be avoided at all costs. The people at Kleen Kanteen have been most accommodating to those who gave me information and made up for the frustrations my readers experienced with this company.

All stainless steel/aluminium water bottles filled with cold water seem to sweat. I thought the tote offered with the eco canteen was a great idea, however the chemical smell is disturbing. I have soaked them in detergent, baking soda, etc. Smell is still so bad the entire room reeks of it. I couldn't find any info on the materials used. Used the on line chat on the eco canteen website. Told the smell would go away after washing (didn't) and was told they have NO info regarding materials used. The chatter suggested I go to their website. No info there either. I have never seen a product such as this that didn't have a label listing materials used and also care of the product. Often on a tab sewn into a seam. I am concerned about exposing this smell to kids especially. Any suggestions or information?
My totes are dark blue or black. I purchased 3 bottles which came with 2 totes.

Be Careful when ordering!

Be very careful when ordering one or several of these. I ordered just ONE kids 12 oz canteen for $8.95 and I didn't check anything else. They automatically added a kid's tote (which was supposedly free) but the final bill was over $18 at the end and there is no way to cancel the order as the final price will not show until after all your credit card info goes in. To make it worse, they keep asking if you would like to upgrade for additional $8 or $7 dollars for a steel cap (it comes with plastic) or a pop up top... All additional charges. The whole purpose of buying this is to avoid plastic and use steel, but how can they be so shifty as to ask us to "upgrade" for an additional $9 for a steel cap? Big con-artists if you ask me.

Great SS water bottle!

This is a product that is one of the "as seen on TV" items. From the website, I seem to be able to only find a company name of "Eco Canteen" - and not sure if made in USA or overseas. The stainless steel container is sturdy, and so far has worked great with no dents and such even tho it hits the ground now and then. I have both the 16 oz and 24 oz sizes. The insulated tote is actually great for keeping the container cold and avoiding the bottle sweating. The tote also makes it comfortable to hold if the bottle is ice cold. The bottle itself has a wide mouth top that lets you easily add ice if you like.
The only down-side I have found - and it is really not a big deal - is that the tote's design in kinda busy. It has an adjustable top to close around the top curve of the bottle - so a hanging strap, and a neat hook that you can remove - but comes attached to the cap. It is actually quite functional, but gives a sort of "camping equipement" look... It's really not a con, but some may find it awkward.
The on-line price when I purchased my bottles was actually $9.99 ea, but when shipping and handling and such was added (I bought 3 bottles) it ended up about $20 per unit - which, as you can see from the other reviews, really irks us all!!! They advertise for a price half of what you actually pay!
One of mine also started leaking (my kid may have dropped it) around the bottom edge - I sent a message to customer service and NEVER got a reply... I used lead-free solder to seal it - works fine now.

Ya know, if they priced it 5 bucks more and gave you free shipping I think they would probably sell more product. They probably have some sales and marketing guru advising them on their price point and how they need to keep it undet 10 bucks and how they can make up the profits by nailing the customers on the shipping costs. Just because they put it in the fine print doesn't make it right. I get a sense that the company is better then this and is just getting some bad advise. Dump your sales and marketing gurus and raise your prices a bit and I bet your business will proper. Just my two cents

I, too, was surprised by the high S/H charges. Never saw the total, until I submitted the payment. Then I saw where the S/H fees were higher than the actual product. Immediately called, stating my concern, only to be told my order could not be pulled up by Customer Service for 24 hours. After reading the other bad experiences, and the additional charges from other vendors they provide credit card info to, I called my credit card company and had them immediately cancel that card, and reissue me another. No charges for me
