Several employees of the evening/night shift are being "clocked out" by the manager and then have to stay for several hours afterward cleaning, etc. And are not being paid for it. For example: 11:00pm clocked out but not able to leave until 3am, washing dishes & cleaning, etc. The manager spends large amounts of time on his cell phone and I suspect they are having to do things he is supposed to be doing or overseeing before closing time, to cover for his goofing off. These employees are high-school and college aged part-time or summer jobs and afraid they will lose their jobs if they report him. What is the best way to handle this? I know this is illegal on the federal level.
