In November we "listed" our timeshare at Fairfield Mountains with Chris Lang at Worldwide timeshares. We paid $699. We never could find an add on their website nor did we get any calls or offers. When we attempted to call Worldwide timeshares, no one would take our call unless we used a different name.
In November I was called by a Stacy Scott from Worldwide Timeshares and asked if I still wanted to sell the time share. I told him we did. He said he had a buyer there with him who would pay our asking amount. He said he needed $850 "closing costs." He said that someone would verify the transaction but would call the closing costs an advertising fee. He said not to tell them it was really closing costs because that would get him in trouble.
Foolishly, I gave him my Discover card number. They charged $850 to my Discover card. My wife tried to call them back an hour later. We got only an answering machine. We left messages to call us, but they never returned our call. There has been no buyer. They basically stole $850 $699 = $1,499.
