My mom is trying to sell her timeshare. Once again we were contacted by someone that had an offer too good to be true. I've seen current prices for similar timeshares listed for around $20k, but they said they had a buyer that would pay $40k.
The buyers money was already in an escrow account, and our payment would go into an escrow account as well, until the sale was finalized. The $2500 payment was for "legal fees" and closing costs.
When they faxed the agreement (would NOT send it through the mail) it stated:
Total cost for processing, until your property is sold/rented $2,500
First line of the boilerplate reads: Quick Sales Property is an advertising company.
Later on it says: Our company forwards all inquiries and offers on your property directly to you, and allows you to negotiate the sales or rentals of your property. Without the involvement of any real estate brokers, and without the expense of any commission.
Their web site did not have any properties for sale, only information on how you could sell your property by sending them money. I'm not an expert in web design, but it looks like you get the following error any time you click on the "new listings" on the main page: "XTemplate fatal error: file [skins/silverblue//buy.html] does not exist_" Its coded into the website, not a server provided error.
Stay away. If you want an advertiser, go with someone thats a member of the ARDA. Ask for their real estate licensee.
