I am the owner/airbrush artist of Killer Kreations Inc which is an airbrush art studio specializing in custom automotive paint, graphics and design. Kerry Harris, the owner of AKUMA Helmets contacted my company in January. He wanted us to design a new line of helmets and jackets for his company. At the time he had another airbrush artist on board with him already doing designs for him. I mentioned that this may be a conflict of interest and he lyed to us saying that he would no longer use the other artists services anymore.
As time went on we entered a contract stating what we would do and how much we are to get paid for the work we submit. Since than we have put in hundreds of man hours painting, net working, and designing jackets & helmets for his company. The deal was that if any of the designs we created went into production, we would receive $5 for every item sold. If the work we submitted does not go into production we are to be paid $1500 for each item.
Everything seemed to be going well, I had a very good relationship with Kerry until it came time for him to pay. The 7 items that we designed for him did not go into production, therefore leaving him with a balance of $10,500 not to mention the out of pocket costs I had to pay for shipping the items from my Philadelphia studio to his Texas company. I had sent Kerry an invoice for the balance owed for the work that we did. When we were working on designs for him, we had spoken to Kerry on a regular basis but once I sent him an invoice for what he owes, we immediately stopped hearing from him. Its now been over a month since we last talked to Kerry. I spent a lot of time and money creating designs for his company thinking that this was a new business opportunity for me and my company and all he did as take advantage of my hard work.
It seems that this is part of how he runs his buisness and makes alot of money doing so. Kerry is a scam artist, he has even gone as far as texting us after weeks of trying to get a hold of him and said that he is sick and in the hopital with cancer and in another country. This is not true. We soon started to find out that everything that he told us was not true! We hope to expose what he is doing so it does not happen to others in the future.
I spent a lot of time trying to figure out why he does this to people and the only thing that I can come up with is that he just refuses to pay for the work people do for him. I have called and personally spoken to other companies that he has done buisness with in the past and they all had the same thing to say about him, he is a liar and a scam artist.
His practices are clearly illegal and he needs to be stopped! I am hoing that some one can help us with this matter.
