I live in an apartment complex that has been through three different owners out of the 2 1/2 years I have been there. The new owners purchase the apartments and then went through Utopia Property Management. The previous owner did not inform us that she was selling the apartments.
I had an arrangement with the previous owner to pay my rent in full by the 15th of each month. The property management would not honor that and sent me a three day notice. I told the manager that I needed a extra month to catch up and she has not responded to my request yet.
They hung a sign that stated: "This property contains chemicals that under the State of California can cause cancer and birth defects." The person that hung the sign up was from the property management and was asked by a tenant what type of chemical. He told her he did not know and to contact the office.
He came out after office hours so we the tenants were left freaked out and paranoid. I called the office and the manager who is never available was not available. I have left several messages for her with no responses. I also called to complain that when the property was sold the old owner shut the laundry room electricity and the outside lights off.
We were unable to talk to the manager. The property has termites we have made several reports and nothing has been done. They also plan to raise the rent and they have not fixed anything.
