On Saturday May 23rd, I had a total of $355.33 in the bank. I made five purchases. Purchase #1-$16.83,2) $7.00 3)$2.98 4)$5.78,5)$10.00. Before making these purchases, I called the bank to verify the funds I had available. After each purchase, I called to make sure the monies had been deducted from the account. As always, the monies were deducted immediately. I then went to the bank and withdrew $300.00 and left $12.00 in there.
On Friday May 29th around 12:30am (my money is direct deposited), I called the bank. The bank stated that I had an overdraft fee totaling $245.61 of which $205.61 was from the items listed above. The other $47.00 was unaccounted for. Immediately I was upset. Later on that evening, I went to the bank. While talking to a customer service rep, I explained to him how I check my account before and after purchases, and how the monies are immediately deducted from my account because I only do debit, and my account is $205.61 in the hole and I dont understand why. His response "Once you make a purchase the monies are taken away and put on hold until the purchases are posted to your account". My response 'So you all are charging me twice then". He then told me "no" and that it was my fault that I'm not keeping up with my money.
I stopped him and explained to him how I just told him that I call the bank before and after purchases and that in fact I do monitor my funds. I assured him that it was a mistake on their end that needed to be fixed. He then looked into my account and saw that this was not the first time this incident had occured. He then told me that because this was not the first incident coming from me, that he would not be able to refund me my money. He then continued to try to get me to understand what he was saying of which I had no understanding. His answers only led me back to saying why is the money being deducted immediately if the items aren't being paid for. He could never give me a direct answer. He only danced around the question. He also got fustrated with me because I refuse to accept and believe what he was telling me. I then gave him a piece of my mind, closed the account, assured him that my lawyer would be in contact, and I left. My feelings were and are still hurt.
I work to hard to have someone just take money from me like that. I now realize that Wachovia has been taking money from me for quite some time now. I just could never understand why. Now my car note and insurance are due and I dont have the money to pay them. I am so looking forward to a lawsuit, maybe even being in on a class action lawsuit! Someone please contact me A.S.A. P!!
