Last year my mother recieved a package of trash can liners and light bulbs. I was astounded at the invoiced cost. I asked her what the grossly priced items were about. She said it was to help disabled veterans. Smelling a scam I told her to hold off on paying the invoice until I had researched them. A year ago the biggest hits were all the complaints registered at the local BBB there.
I looked at the products. The trash can liners were EXTREMELY THIN and couldn't have held a full load without tearing. Five year light bulbs - NOT ON YOUR LIFE. I told her to not pay the bill and that we would send the box back. She says she didn't (I suspect she did anyway).
Today I answered her phone and the man on the line asked for Mrs. So-and-so. I told him I could help him. He insisted on talking to her - I smelled some scam. I told him she couldn't come to the phone but I could help him with any matter. (I am her caregiver.) He began reading a canned spiel, "Thank you for your past support of disabled veterans. Your support helped insure that 17 veterans remained employed blah-blah-blah..." I interruped him and asked him what he wanted. He wanted to know if she wanted to make some additional purchases. I asked him about all the BBB complaints. He said they, "were with the BBB." (Yeah sure - on their site - NOT MEMBERS - and with NUMEROUS complaints registered.) He said he could give me an 800 number to call. I asked if he had a website I could look at. (I remembered that last year they had no website.) "No we do not have a website." (Then there would be documented lies, wouldn't there?) I asked him to never call again and as he hung the phone up he yelled at me to, "GO JUMP IN THE COMMODE!"
I found one of the boxes of bags that she still had and found one with a packing list. Googled them up. STILL MANY COMPLAINTS at the BBB and this site which I had not seen before. And here I am reporting their RIP-OFF and RUDENESS.
