(Monte) I would have lost $1726.25 on June 2 by "Monte" representing "21st Century Legal Services" if I would not have investigated them first!

I am a single Minnesota mother facing the foreclosure of my home. On May 20, I received a telemarketing phone call from 21st Century Legal Services offering me assistance with my home foreclosure from an Obama bail out home remodification loan plan.

He said his name was "Monte" and he could work with my mortgage company to reduce my home loan interest rate down to 5% and bring the payments down to $343.95 per month.

He said he would be able to help me stop the foreclosure even if there was already a sale date set and do a remodification of my loan.

"Monte" told me that for their assistance, I would need to have a cashiers check ready on June 2 in the amount of $1726.25 to give to a member of their staff that would be coming to my residence for their legal services.

Then for the next following fews months, I would have to send them cashiers checks by certified mail for my arranged lowered house payments. He said that this was the only way that the mortgage company would accept any money from me now that I was already in foreclosure.

I was told to put together information including, photo I.D., the latest correspondence from my loan company, my last 3 months pay stubs tax return statements, and a hardship letter explaining why I had fallen behind in my loan.

This had been the 3rd company that had contacted me about assisting with the foreclosure of my home, but it was the only one that requested money up front.

I was very short with him and warned him that I was in no mood to deal with scammers and I would be checking out this service with the B.B.B. He encouraged me to do so and reassured me that this was NOT a scam. He also gave me a website address to check out their services, which was www.21stcenturyremod.com.

I was given a case number and also had a return phone call from a woman who set up a confirmation date for someone to come to my property on June 2. She said they would be looking at my property and that I was to have a certified check ready for them and all the requested information.

I was so relieved that I found someone to help me stop the foreclosure that I called my sister in California to tell her about it. I asked her if she could loan me the funds that I needed by June 2nd until I got my paycheck from work.

We weren't comfortable with the idea of someone wanting money upfront, so I gave her the phone number, extention, website, and name of the man that I talked to.

My sister called him, and he gave her the same information that he gave me.

We decided to investigate them anyway! So we Googled 21st Century Legal Services and low and behold... It had several sites claiming fraud against them.

I am so angry now because they have my personal information. My hopes have been crushed and I just thank God that I did not give them any money.

Hopefully, more people will see and hear what they are doing before they lose their money. That would have been all the money that I had in the world left to my name.

I need to especially thank my sister's for looking out for me and encouraging me to check them out!
